Some thoughts on my new blog home I’ve had a good look around the new place and it has a lot of nifty features, such as blog search and moderation. It also seems to be lacking stuff that was pretty neat with .Text. Josh has put together a good summary For me, the things I find missing/different are: Timezone settings. I want my posts to reflect MY timezone Stripping of SCRIPT tags in the news sections. I had a bunch of things that don’t work anymore. User interface to manage links is funky. I can get used to the new one I guess Presentation of links isn’t in Alphabetical order anymore. I have to manually set the order of the links. Yuk Quick stats on posts, links and trackbacks is gone. I liked that summary. Oh well. Articles are all presented in full, not just headlines. Makes the page load so much slower. Yuk. Marvin3 skin layout is different. I can live with this, time for a change of scenery anyway. Anyways, thanks to the team who did the transfer. It was a big undertaking and it seems to have gone smoothly. I think you’ll find they no longer actually link out, and the postback author is not listed either. The comments feed is also reporting authors as anonymous, e.g: http://blogs.msdn.com/frankarr/commentrss.aspx?PostID=399516 :( Anonymous April 03, 2005 thx bill, yeah, thats a bit of a bummer, but to be expected with the new comment moderation system. onwards we go… Anonymous April 03, 2005 The comment has been removed Anonymous April 20, 2005 I pre-purchased a copy of Community Server before it launch in March, but I’m still running my .Text blog. The lack of podcasting support is a bit of a bummer. However, if you want to see some amazing mods done to Community Server, check out Dave Burke’s site because he’s done some amazing integration of the Gallery product in Community Server and the Blog product.
